How to get ready for a Family Photography Session
A simple list of what you need the day of your family photos
Does the thought of family photos bring you anxiety and panic? Do you immediately begin to think…I have no idea how to prepare for this? How will I ever know what to do with my kids?

Here is my list of tried and tested tips to make your kids happy and engaged during your family session:
- Double check the address
The day before your session or in the morning of your session, double check how far away your destination is and see how long it will take to get there. You will want to leave enough time to get ready, and navigate traffic, without rushing and stressing. Trust me there is nothing that can stress a family out like being late and the goal here is to avoid stress. - Nap Time
Try to make sure everyone is rested – a nap on session day can go a long way in helping everyone enjoy their session. - Come with full bellies
Hungry kids are unhappy kids. Pack a mess free snack for the car ride or for a break during the session.
*Pro Tip* If you eat before the session, don’t leave dinner for the car ride over and have to clean-up kids in the parking lot. This can set you up for unexpected stains and spills. - Plan a special treat for after the session
You would be shocked at how motivated kids are by ice cream, a toy, or fruit snacks. These little motivators can keep everyone going during the session!

Come with a playful and excited attitude. Parents really set the tone here. If you are engaged and ready for fun, the kids will follow your cue. Trust me, it will show in your photos and you will love the results!
