Nursery Tour
Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood
Are you looking for nursery inspiration? I am here with a nursery highlight to help get your creative juices flowing.
This lovely little family has a heart to pass on legacy and love to their new son. As I spoke with them about their son’s room, they showed me little items from their past and personalized items that had been purchased by family members. Every item that is lovingly displayed has been thought of and planned by mom and dad or sent from an out of state family member. This little boy is getting love and legacy brought to him through family near and far.
Mom and Dad chose a Winnie the Pooh theme for their son’s nursery and the idea for the theme stemmed from momma’s love of Winnie the Pooh in her own childhood. They wanted to encourage fun and whimsy for their own little guy by bringing in a fusion of the classic book and the Disney version as well. Throughout the room you can see this brought to life by the well chosen items that adorn the room.
Almost every decoration is handmade by family or purchased from Etsy, giving this room a sweet and personalized touch. Little crocheted stuffed animals of the iconic characters are displayed throughout the room. There are also these adorable little wood cutouts of the characters, which are also handmade.
The colors of the room kept to the theme as well. Woodsy greens and browns are throughout the room, accented by a yellow blanket. This yellow blanket was made and sent with love from an out of state family member and it is a great piece to give a beautiful honey color. The little guy loved the blanket and it was easily incorporated into his in-home session making this blanket not only a beloved family item, but also a lovely prop incorporated into his photos.
Having his newborn session in his nursery made everyone comfortable and allowed this family to capture memories in a space they created specifically for their little boy. If you want to know more about my newborn session options, check out my page to find one that fits for you and your family.
Mom and Dad also included treasured items from their own childhood in the nursery. This teddy bear was one of Dad’s beloved childhood items that has been lovingly given to their son. I absolutely love how this family has done a wonderful job bringing in personalized items either from their own childhood, handmade by families or handmade from Etsy.
Nursery decor doesn’t have to be complicated. When you are planning your decor, I recommend starting with a simple theme or a few colors and build a theme from there. Your family’s love and relationships are the priority, so keep it focused on love and memory making.
